THE HUGS UA
Volunteer center in Bansko
Volunteer center in Bulgaria, which organised educational and entertainment activities for refugee children from the war-torn Ukraine, helping them to adapt to a new place.
The visitors of the center were mostly mothers and children who had fled the war zone. It was very important for us not only to help these people with housing and food, but also to partially return them to a normal life, help them adapt, find friends and support. This is especially important for children. To do this, we organized free English classes for adults and children, created a playroom for children, held skiing lessons, drawing and music lessons, sports activities, games for teenagers, art projects, rafting and much more. Teachers, psychologists, including a neuropsychologist, an art therapist, artists and musicians, and instructors in various sports were involved in the work at the center. We have helped to many families survive the first most difficult months of adaptation to new conditions. The center in Bansko worked from March 12 to August 10
